About People In Aid

People In Aid improves organisational effectiveness within the humanitarian and development sector worldwide by advocating, supporting and recognising good practice in the management of people.

We help organisations whose goal is the relief of poverty and suffering to enhance the impact they make through better management and support of staff and volunteers.

Both human resource managers and people managers rely on our work to improve their organisation’s impact. Our very practical output can help you enhance the support you provide to your staff and volunteers.

Established by agencies in the humanitarian and development sector in 1995, we are a not-for-profit membership organisation. We are governed by our members, whose experiences and HR practices shape our activities and have informed the cornerstone of our work, the People In Aid Code of Good Practice in the management and support of aid personnel.

Over the past years we have provided you with seminal research, with unparalleled networking opportunities, with information and benchmarking to make your job easier, with training and, above all, with recognition of your achievements and commitment through certification.

The strategy set by our Board of Trustees prioritises your needs and firmly retains our focus on the Principles of the People In Aid Code. You can read our strategy for 2009-12 here.

People In Aid Interactive is available for you to access relevant  wikisresources and blogs, as well as network more effectively by using our forums. It provides an excellent free space for you to keep abreast of the current trends and what your peers are doing, as well promote your own good practice and learn from others around the world.

Please engage with the People In Aid network. Members of our network gain greater benefits – click here to see how to join. We welcome you at any of our events around the world and we hope you will contact us if you have any needs to express, support to offer or experience to share.

"[People In Aid] helped us gain the knowledge, information and tools necessary for supporting dedicated people who forget about themselves in their quest to help others."
