Diplomatic coup (case study)

The organisation was new in the country. The programme manager decided to approach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their country agreement. This was unusual as his was a non-governmental organisation but he received a warm welcome and was able to negotiate many of the diplomatic privileges usually only accorded to embassies.

International staff benefited in many ways, not least that they were given diplomatic identity cards. The organisation was also able to import relief goods duty-free more easily.
