Leave
Staff may be absent from work for a variety of reasons.

| Annual | Leave entitlement specified in contract. Often can not be taken in first months of contract. Entitlement may increase with length of service. | Illness | Leave, either paid or unpaid, which is granted to a team member who falls ill. Sickness of a child or other close relative may also count. |

| Maternity and paternity | Leave in addition to annual leave, taken immediately before and after the birth of a child. Paternity leave is not as common as maternity leave. |

| Rest and recuperation | Leave in addition to annual leave, in recognition of tough working and living conditions. Generally has to be taken on a regular basis and can not normally be accumulated or carried over from one year to the next.
