Ongoing support

Emergency work is often emotionally and physically exhausting.

Departing team members may react in different or a combination of ways: happy or depressed, satisfied or frustrated, grateful or resentful, guilty or proud.

It is in the best interests of the team member, the organisation and the sector that support is offered and available. This may vary from counselling after a particularly difficult assignment to simply adding the team member to the mailing list for programme updates after a proper debriefing.
