Staff council

Discussions with all staff on employment issues may not be practical (too large a team, difficult to bring together etc.)

One solution may be a staff council.

Possible advantages Possible disadvantages
  • Less disruption to programme as meetings do not require all team members
  • More manageable meetings where decisions can be taken more easily
  • Representatives may not represent best interests of all team members
  • Danger of constant negotiating and re-negotiating of terms and conditions if this is seen as sole role of council
  • Emphasising international/national split if groups have very different interests

Way forward
