About Agency for Co-operation and Research in Development

ACORD is an Africa-led international alliance working for social justice and equality that facilitates collaborative action on grassroots development programmes as well as policy, advocacy and public education programmes. ACORD’s pan-african programme seeks to understand, challenge and change the conditions that cause poverty and exclusion and to strengthen social movements that address social marginalisation and exclusion in 18 African countries. ACORD is also actively involved in the following areas:

  • Strengthening civil society
  • Creating the conditions for resolving conflicts
  • Overcoming gender and other forms of discrimination
  • Improving livelihoods
  • Addressing the causes and consequences of HIV/AIDS
