Australian Volunteers (AVI) is working towards a peaceful, just and sustainable world; a world of respectful global relationships where all people have access to the resources they need, the opportunity to achieve their potential, the right to make decisions about the kind of development they want and to participate in the future of their communities.

In the past five decades AVI has fostered strong relationships with local community organiations in over 70 countries. Through understanding the people and their needs AVI projects focus on the following four critical development goals:

- the promotion of human rights

- education on gender equality

- protection of the enviornment

- fighting HIV/AIDS through promoting better health and education.
