About Uganda Red Cross Society
Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) is a humanitarian organisation in Uganda. Since its inception in 1939 as a small women’s emergency organisation, URCS has developed over the years into a formidable well-respected humanitarian agency. In 1941, it became a branch of the British Red Cross. Recognised by an Act of Parliament of the Republic of Uganda in 1964 and admitted as a member of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent in 1965, it has over 200,000 registered members with 1.5 million beneficiaries to its interventions.
