Thriving in the midst of crisis: Some keys to being a resilient humanitarian worker

Cornerstone on Demand are hosting a Webinar on 13 November focusing on resilience within the humanitarian sector, hosted by Lisa McKay, a member of People In Aid's Partner Consultant Network.

Humanitarian workers are well trained to address the stress and trauma locals face when disaster strikes, but are they also trained to handle the pressures they face as aid workers?

This webinar offers participants the opportunity to hear from Lisa McKay as she shares her expertise in developing humanitarian workers so that they don't just survive in their jobs, but thrive.

Being held on November 13th, at 8:00 a.m. PST/ 11:00 a.m. EST, the webinar is free to attend and you can book your place now.

In addition to being a practicing psychologist, Lisa is a published author and most recently spent seven years as Director of Training and Education Services for the Headington Institute, a provider of support services to humanitarian workers.

Building Resilient Managers in Humanitarian Organisations

In 2010 Lisa addressed resilience within humanitartian workers in a People In Aid research report titled 'Building Resilient Managers in Humanitarian Organisations'. Recently made available to download free of charge, the report undertakes an initial exploration of the personal skills and strengths, and organisational structures and practices, which can promote resilience in managers working for international humanitarian organisations.
