The close of HHR Europe conference 2011

The HHR Madrid conference has now finished and all the participants are travelling back to their various NGOs and organisations around the world. Taking a quick glance at the feedback forms from the event, it was encouraging to see on top of the pile: "Very interesting, interactive, relevant and a good reflection". I was also glad to see the word "energizing" mentioned more than once.

Strengthening Capacity: Impact and Funding

The day at HHR Europe 2011 has finished and has seen many practical tools, ideas and stories of innovative approaches to capacity building shared. A lot of the discussion within peer groups and breakout workshops centred around the way in which we can measure the impact that capacity building projects have and how this can be used to inspire further funding for these initiatives.

Day 1 at HHR Europe conference 2011 draws to a close

The day at HHR Madrid has finished with an exciting discussion around the way in which we as a sector measure the impact of up-skilling staff and how loyalty can be instilled. A number of key questions were raised, including whether the competency frameworks were really contextually adaptable.

HHR Europe Conference 2011 - Blogging from the event

I have arrived in Madrid, Spain, in preparation for the 3-day Humanitarian HR (HHR) Europe conference, which starts this afternoon (18 May 2011), themed around Strengthening Local Humanitarian Capacity. Over the next few days I will blog as the conference progresses, the aim being to share the information being discussed and presented, and the lessons learnt with the wider humanitarian and development sector.
